I'm very excited to announce I've just launched a new sister brand to Lee Renee - it's called No 13 Jewellery - and brings you a touch of ethical luxury.
I decided to launch it as a separate brand as I wanted to explore new design styles, new materials, recycled elements and eco-friendly packaging, and work in collaboration with indigenous artisans - the first collection is made with the Sami people who inhabit the Arctic Circle.
As you know from Lee Renee pieces, I'm heavily inspired by nature and indigenous artisans who live in some of the remotest and endangered places on the planet. I wanted to work alongside them to bring you the most original and contemporary designs.
My aim was to create a modern twist on ancient Sami styles, and in doing so make something luxurious, beautiful and sustainably-sourced, with lots of the pieces featuring naturally shed Reindeer antlers, hand carved to my specifications in uniquely-shaped cabochon stones, which are then hand-etched with ancient Sami patterns and inlayed with india ink and silver to bring out the detailing.
You can see our Sami carver at work along with his beautiful herd of reindeer above. Sixten is a true craftsman with over 40 years experience in reindeer shepherding and scrimshaw carving.
Also, as this collaboration is with an indigenous culture that is heavily affected by our actions on the planet, 10% of sales are donated to the National Wildlife Federation - a conservation group which unites individuals and businesses to protect wildlife, wild places, and the environment.
Please take a look at the No 13 website here, it's been a labour of love but I'm extremely proud of what we've created and I hope you will enjoy wearing No 13 jewellery as much as we did making and creating it for you.
