More than ever, people want to know where their purchases are made and how the materials are sourced. What am I buying and what type of business am I investing in? Is this sustainable fashion? The fragility of the world is important to many creators and they relish the challenge of transforming items and materials. Why would recycling not be significant to you?
And thankfully, with wonderful creative minds – beautiful guilt-free pieces do not have to equal boring pieces. High fashion includes many ethical brands and here’s a chance to showcase a few we love, plus tell you a little more about our sustainable fashion ethos.
When you buy a Lee Renee piece, you are buying a piece that is handmade (by Lee herself) in London and made from 100% recycled silver and gold, with gemstones that are ethically sourced. When so much thought has been put into the design, the process and the final product, all that is left to do is pick a favourite piece.
Add a new favourite from our 'Delicates' collection, like the Banana necklace or the Mini Pineapple Bracelet - so easy to wear and will set you up perfectly for beach holidays, festivals and the wedding season.
Desirable bags, accessories and homeware made from recycled firefighter hoses. Many of the products include adorable notes about how the hose would have been in action in the UK for over 25 years! And even the lining of the bags is beautifully resurrected wedding table linens.
Each piece has been lovingly designed and handmade. The brand describe themselves as “tradition re-engineered” which from our view, sounds perfect.
When a tsunami hit Sri Lanka on Boxing Day 2004, it was a lot closer to home for the Forkans than anyone would ever wish. After losing their parents that day, the UK born brothers Rob and Paul, set up a business to raise money towards a centre for orphans in the tsunami affected area.
Designing flip flops and backpacks inspired by their many years of travel globally, they created profits with 10% going to orphans. Our favourites from the collection include the gorgeous Morrocan print flip flops and the limited edition round towels.
