My name’s Lee, I’m a jewellery designer/maker and I write about things I make, do and love.
As this is my first entry, I thought I should tell you a little bit about my journey so far…
I’d say my jewellery design aesthetic is fashion-forward, playful fine jewellery. I make pieces I love that create conversation. I think jewellery should be fun to wear and shouldn’t feel too serious or ‘grown-up’ but should inject some colour and excitement into your styling, whilst also being built to last and with you for a very long time – there’s nothing more depressing than having a favourite ring or necklace that you’ve bought turn you or itself green!
That’s why making quality pieces in precious metal is important to me. Some of my most cherished jewellery was passed down from my lovely Nan and wearing them makes me feel closer to her, plus fine jewellery keeps its value which is important in these tricky times, they are investment pieces that will give you lots of joy and a lifetime of wears – who said fashion has to be frivolous?!
I’ve launched my brand Lee Renée this July after spending 3 years retraining as a silversmith under some of St. Martin’s and Hatton Garden’s finest. Before that I’d been working in advertising for many years but always knew that jewellery design was my first love. After this life transition my middle name Renée – meaning rebirth (and was my Nan’s name Gawd bless her) – took on a new significance so I decided to use it in my brand name.
Here are a few images from my 3 debut collections called Voodoo, Rock Princess and Les Bêtes respectively – more to follow on them soon x
